Missisquoi Valley School District Seeks Highgate Community Member for School Board

Make a Difference: Your Community Needs You!

Serving on the school board is a rewarding opportunity to shape the educational experience for our children. We are looking for someone who is committed to our students and willing to work collaboratively with fellow board members, administrators, and the community.

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a candidate who possesses the following qualities, skills, and experience:

  • Big-Picture Thinker: Able to contribute to the district's vision and strategic direction, incorporating community input.
  • Governance Focus: Understands and is committed to fulfilling a governance role, not day-to-day management.
  • Broad Perspective: Willingness to consider a wide range of school district issues, not just single-issue agendas.
  • Respect for Board Authority: Understands the legal limitations of individual board members and acts accordingly.
  • Active Listener: A good listener who avoids making commitments without the full board's consensus.
  • Upholds "Whole Board" Principle: Understands that no single person can act or speak for the board.
  • Supports Board Decisions: Able to support decisions made by the board, even if they personally disagreed.
  • Student-Centered Focus: Prioritizes the best interests of the entire school district, even in the face of opposition.
  • Maintains Confidentiality: Understands the importance of confidentiality regarding student matters, personnel issues, negotiations, and security.
