Request for Proposals – Hay Harvesting at Cassidy Field
The Missisquoi Valley School District (MVSD) is seeking proposals from qualified individuals or entities interested in harvesting standing hay at no cost from approximately 20 acres of agricultural land known as "Cassidy Field," located off Gore Road in Highgate, Vermont. This property is situated directly north of, and adjacent to, the Highgate Sports Arena. MVSD requires the successful harvester to complete a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of four (3) hay cuts during the 2025 growing season, depending on weather and field conditions. All harvested hay becomes the property of the harvester and must be removed from the field immediately following
each cut. Harvesting may only occur when soil conditions are sufficiently dry to prevent excessive rutting, compaction, or damage to the field. MVSD reserves the right to suspend harvesting if field conditions are deemed unsuitable. The harvester is responsible for restoring any damage to the field resulting from harvesting operations, to the satisfaction of MVSD. Proof of liability insurance is required prior to any work beginning.
Compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal agricultural regulations is mandatory. Proposals must be received by July 7, 2025, at 12:00 PM and should be emailed to [email protected] or delivered to Missisquoi Valley School District, 100 Robin Hood Drive, Suite 2, Swanton, VT 05488, Attn: Jason Butler, Director of Buildings and Grounds. Each proposal must include: Bidder’s full name and contact information, Number of cuts planned, brief description of equipment to be used.
A voluntary site visit may be scheduled by contacting Jason Butler at [email protected]. A map of the property can also be requested. MVSD will award the proposal it determines to be in the best interest of the School Districts.
Preference will be given to local bidders who are deemed reliable and experienced and who have the ability to meet requirements. Bids will be awarded July 16, 2025. MVSD reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals, in whole or in part, and to waive any informalities or irregularities in the process.
