Students in K-1 take the STAR Early Literacy Screener which measures proficiency in the early foundational skills. Grades 2-11 are screened on STAR Reading. Grades 1-11 are screened on STAR Math.
These computer-adaptive assessments provide a quick snapshot of student performance along the learning progression for each grade level. The data generate reports at the district, school, grade, classroom, and individual student levels, offering valuable insight into which students are on track to meet grade-level expectations and which may need additional support.
Educators use this information to guide instruction, plan interventions, and allocate resources effectively. All schools completed their STAR assessments by September 30, marking the first major data collection point of the academic year. The district plans to report fall-to-winter growth results to the School Board in February 2026.
This data also plays a key role in tracking progress toward the district’s Continuous Improvement Plan goals, which are publicly available on the district website in the Continuous Improvement Plans section.
