The Missisquoi Valley Union Middle and High School Agriculture Department proudly announces the generous donation of a Registered Aberdeen Angus heifer—affectionately named Sassy—from the Rainville Family, a prominent farming family within the Missisquoi Valley School District.
On Friday, November 21st, members of the Rainville family visited the school’s farm facilities to meet with Sassy and the students who care for her. They toured the barn and shared some of the storied history of cattle raising in our region with students in the FFA program. During the visit, the students, Agricultural Instructor James Messier, FFA Advisor Elizabeth Sweet, and High School Principal Dan Palmer presented the family with a commemorative plaque to express the school’s deep appreciation for their support.
While handing the plaque to Matthew Rainville, Sweet stated, “Thank you from the FFA for being such great supporters of our program and giving us the opportunity to see the future and be able to really grasp what that means for students in the agricultural field.”
The Rainville family expressed that they were proud to support a program that helps preserve and strengthen Vermont’s agricultural heritage.
Once old enough, Sassy will enter into the schools breeding program, offering students ongoing experiential learning opportunities throughout the year.
