District Earns High Marks in Federal Grant Review

The Vermont Agency of Education gave Missisquoi Valley School District an exceptional review during a federal grant fiscal monitoring visit on March 4, 2026.

Auditors examined approximately $3 million in annual federal and state grant funding — including IDEA-B, Title programs, 21st Century funds, and others — reviewing everything from procurement records to internal controls and staff professional development documentation.

AOE reviewers told district staff that MVSD operates as a "model district," noting they had to "dig very deep" to identify even a minor finding, and that they were taking notes on MVSD's processes to share with other districts across the state. Officials called it one of the strongest monitoring reviews they have conducted.

Business Office Director Lora McAllister credited the result to years of intentional work strengthening the district's grant management systems, as well as the efforts of curriculum, expanded learning, and business office staff who prepared documentation for the review.
