Highgate Elementary's Kid Governor program took on a new dimension this fall when student leaders welcomed two of Vermont's top elected officials for a conversation about civic life and public service. Students led the discussion, asking questions about daily responsibilities in office, sharing their own Kid Governor platforms, and even swapping book recommendations with their guests. Vermont's first-ever Kid Governor, our own Roslyn Fortin, had the opportunity to sit with Congresswoman Balint and Secretary of State Copeland Hanzas to reflect on her own experience in the role — an inspiring moment of student voice and civic leadership.
