Vermont's Act 170 is reshaping how school districts work together, establishing seven regional Cooperative Educational Service Areas (CESAs) to facilitate shared services and launching local Merger Study Groups to evaluate district structures. MVSD is part of the newly forming Champlain North CESA, alongside Maple Run USD, Franklin West SU, Grand Isle SU, Milton Town SD, and Franklin Northeast SU. The board met September 3rd to review draft bylaws and explore a potential partnership with the Champlain Valley Education Development Center to assist with early setup. Separately, regional Merger Study Groups are being organized, with inaugural meetings required by October 15th and final study reports due to the Agency of Education by September 1, 2027.
